Frequently Asked Questions About Weed in Sofia
Is Weed in Sofia legal for tourists?
No. Bulgaria prohibits recreational cannabis in Sofia and throughout the country. Possession, use, cultivation, and supply can all create legal consequences.
Can I bring CBD or cannabis products into Bulgaria?
Do not assume that Bulgarian authorities permit a CBD, hemp, edible, oil, or vape product. Ingredients and THC limits may affect how authorities classify a product. Check current official Bulgarian requirements before travelling, and avoid carrying products that lack clear authorisation.
Can I use medical cannabis in Sofia?
Medical-cannabis rules differ from recreational rules and can involve complex requirements. A prescription from another country may not authorise possession in Bulgaria. Contact the relevant Bulgarian authority and your embassy before travelling with controlled medicine.
What should I do if police find cannabis?
Stay respectful and ask for an interpreter when necessary. Request legal assistance before you sign statements or documents that you do not understand. If authorities detain you, contact your embassy or consulate as soon as possible.
Can I trust cannabis products sold online or through messaging apps?
No reliable guarantee confirms that unregulated products remain authentic, uncontaminated, or legal. Online sellers may also commit fraud or identity theft. Avoid sharing payment details, identification, or travel information with unknown contacts.
Where can I find reliable legal information?
Consult Bulgarian government agencies, official customs guidance, your embassy or consulate, and a qualified Bulgarian lawyer. Laws and enforcement practices can change, so verify the current rules close to your travel date.
